which is specifically for the Chinese language that people use in Taiwan (whether you believe it is a real country or not). If this translation is for Chinese speakers from Taiwan area, I don’t see any issues with the flag because flags here are not representing countries. Whether anyone believes Taiwan is a country or not (I don’t care personally, sorry) no one can deny that it owns a flag.https://github.com/saadeghi/daisyui/pull/2150

Xi's Focus on Communist Party Will Cost China
Xi clearly believes that expanding the party’s influence across China’s government and society will revitalize a regime weakened by decades of economic modernization and market reforms. More direct party control will, in theory, give the CCP greater power and thus security.
In his decade in power, Chinese President Xi Jinping has reversed many of the policies adopted by former paramount leader Deng Xiaoping. One of the most consequential casualties has been the clear division of labor between the party and the state.
In reality, however, seeking the party’s absolute supremacy is far more likely to produce a more inefficient, corrupt, and weaker Chinese regime.

Kissinger Meets Xi as China Courts ‘Old Friends’ to Manage U.S. Rivalry
In meeting with Henry Kissinger, China’s leader, Xi Jinping, is turning to American contacts outside the Biden administration to try to influence Washington’s thinking on China.
China has also been courting American business leaders. Aside from Mr. Gates and Mr. Musk, Tim Cook and Jamie Dimon have visited China this year — some given the kind of high-level meetings with Chinese officials that senior officials from foreign nations also get.
“It’s unfortunate that a private citizen can meet with the defense minister and have a communication and the United States can’t,” Mr. Kirby said on Thursday. “That is something that we want to solve.”

What should China do to revive its economy?
1. Cut checks to regular Chinese people.
2. Build out a world-class health care system.
The basic policy recommendation is the same: to fight a recession, make people and companies feel financially healthy again. This means either bailouts and/or fiscal stimulus — either have the central government explicitly take on the debts of various other actors in the economy, or have it spend a bunch of money that people can use to pay down their own debts.
Maybe the Chinese government won’t do this; maybe Xi Jinping thinks that health care is weak and decadent, and that Real Men (TM) work in factories or construction sites. But what America’s New Dealers realized is that if you lower the amount of time that young people have to spend taking care of grandma and grandpa, you free up young people for more productive work. China would be wise to follow that example. And an economic downturn is a perfect chance to do this.

On Getting Married
Today, I’m getting married. On this blog, I talk a lot about decision-making, data-driven analysis, and looking at everything through a critically technical lens.
But, this was the easiest decision I’ve ever made, and it came from the heart. See you tomorrow.

The past is not true
We think of the past like it’s a physical fact - like it’s real. But the past is what we call our memory and stories about it. Imperfect memories, and stories built on one interpretation of incomplete information. That’s “the past”.
You can change your history. The actual factual events are such a small part of it. Everything else is perspective, open for re-interpretation. The past is never done.

British Museum’s China’s Hidden Century exhibition an incredible history lesson whether or not you’re Chinese
The British Museum’s chosen title – “China’s Hidden Century” – is primarily for a domestic audience. For many in Hong Kong, the long Chinese 19th century is anything but hidden.
Despite the general long-term decline over the period, it was also a time of improvements and innovations – whether in engineering, technology, society, the arts – which are often forgotten or overlooked.
To British audiences, and to many visiting tourists this summer, the exhibition will be a revelation of a China little known or taught. To others, more familiar with the history, it will offer a rare chance to see an incredible variety of objects and curiosities, on display in one place, telling the widely varied stories of China’s long, very long, 19th century.

British Museum’s incredible Chinese history exhibition is a revelation
China’s Hidden Century uses a remarkable variety of objects to illustrate life in the late Qing dynasty and remind visitors of events such as the Taiping Rebellion, the most destructive civil war anywhere ever.

Over the past century and a half, China has experienced foreign invasion, warfare, political turmoil and revolution, along with massive economic and technological change. Through all this change there is one stable element: grandmothers, as child-carers, household managers, religious devotees, transmitters of culture and, above all, sources of love, warmth and affection.
In this interdisciplinary and longitudinal study, China’s Grandmothers sheds light on the status and lives of grandmothers in China over the years from the late Qing Dynasty to the twenty-first century. Combining a wide range of historical and biographical materials, Diana Lary explores the changes and continuities in the lives of grandmothers through revolution, wars and radical upheaval to the present phase of economic growth. Informed by her own experience as a grandchild and grandmother, Lary offers a fresh and compelling way of looking at gender, family and ageing in modern Chinese society.

In Imperial China, the idea of filial piety not only shaped family relations but was also the official ideology by which Qing China was governed. In State and Family, Yue Du examines the relationship between politics and intergenerational family relations in China from the Qing period to 1949, focusing on changes in family law, parent–child relationships, and the Chinese state during this period.
This book highlights how the Qing dynasty treated the state-sponsored parent–child hierarchy as the axis around which Chinese family and political power relations were constructed and maintained. It shows how following the fall of the Qing in 1911, reform of filial piety law in the Republic of China became the basis of state-directed family revolution, playing a central role in China’s transition from empire to nation-state.
